FFXI vs. FFXIV

I'm guessing by now most of you have heard of the upcoming MMO from SE, FFXIV, and know enough that it has the same playable races but isn't set in Vana'diel <blah blah etc..>

Most people I've spoken to have already decided to leave FFXI for FFXIV. I am really looking forward to it as it does look gorgeous and it'll be all new and shiny but I would like try to continue with FFXI too, however I'll probably be the only one left standing on Sylph! It just seems a shame that all those years of effort into FFXI will be gone :( Thoughts on this anybody? What are your plans? Will you play one, the other or both?
